The anchorage was favoured by the local fishermen and they visited the bay early in the morning to drop their fishing nets. Our peace was shattered, the fishing boats nudged in quite close to some of the yachts at anchor and spread their nets. After quite awhile they hauled in their catch and motored back to base. Peace returned to the anchorage.

Tucked into the side of the ria in a small bay with a beach and a few houses it was a pleasant anchorage surrounded by forestry on the hills. Everywhere was looking lush and green.

We awoke to a very warm sunny morning with no breeze and it was surprising that a fog descended later in the morning. It was rather eerie for awhile while the foggy mist closed in around the yachts, eventually the fog cleared and the sun peeped through again and the day warmed up.

We were content to stay on board. The anchorage waters were calm and protected and we hopped on our paddle boards and paddled closer to the shore spotting fish and sting rays as we glided over the top of them. The water was very clear.

Looking into the sun

In the afternoon we decided we would head further down the ria to the fascinating town of Combarro for a couple of nights at anchor.
